Namur, Belgium

We've visited Namur several times since we've lived here.  This charming city in the French-speaking part of Belgium is distinguished by an enormous citadel built into a tall hill that towers over the city and affords spectacular views. It's also the place where my favorite perfume is made, Passion by Guy Delforge. I bought an extra bottle of this spicy fragrance to take back with me to America, though the gentlemen at the parfumerie assure me they can ship it to me if I run out. A Grrrl with a passion for Passion can't take any chances.

Like Di, I love Belgian street lamps.

E-Grrrl had to photograph the Webkinz she received for her birthday at an overlook.

Ah, how beautiful! It's like a storybook place! The kids were very excited to hear y'all had gone back there and wondered if you had gone back to the playground. Mr. T was playing around in the bathroom and threw a ball, which knocked over some of my bottles... I thought for a moment the precious perfume bottle was knocked over and it was a scary thought!!! Thankfully, nothing was broken!

As if we could go back to Namur and NOT take the kids to the playground. They would not have let us get away with that!

And hey, if your Passion runs out, I can get you a refill. : )

Beautiful spot on a beautiful day. And I smiled at the Webkinz -- when my nieces visited here in July, their Webkinz went to ALL of the best places!

It's gorgeous and easy to see what you will miss when you head back to the US.

Pictures like these make me look forward to our time in Belgium. What architecture, character and history - that sense we just can't get here in the U.S. Thanks for sharing them.

Absolutely gorgeous. Those views are so picturesque. You'll be looking at photographs often, I know, when you return to the U.S.

Stunning photos and immediately a sense of history. The Webkins shot was a nice surprise! Bet E-Grrrl will always treasure that one :-) .

I love Namur as well. Those are some great pics. The citadel is truly amazing and we always enjoy exploring the passages. I'm looking for accomodations in the area that we can take my parents to during the Christmas holidays. The caves (Han) are also really worth visiting.

But where's the playground??? Dunno if we somehow passed that one up...

Okay, I'm filling your blog with worthless comments, but I found the playground...it's been closed every time we've been in Namur...and will be again!! Someday we'll get there...

I've been to Han as well. We went there with my friend Lynn and her children. It was a great place to visit, especially since we went during a heat wave. The only cool places in Belgium were underground!

Great shots that are more than just a one day tourist attraction to me.

Some of my closest friends (most of them diving buddies and their partners) live in Namur.

I could post some impressive diving-around-Namur URLs, but then again, I hate showing my face online.

As Namur is the official capital of Wallonia, it hosts the annual "fĂȘtes de Wallonie" [17-20 Sept], the "4th of July" of French speaking Belgium.
I regret I had to give the event a rain check last September, due to personal health issues.

Looking at your pictures, I recall the days I was looking at the fireworks along the "Meusse", the river passing through Namur, followed by a sleep-over along that same river at the house of some of the most warm-hearted people I know.

Thanks, you did it again V!
;-)
