Card making

Sometimes I wander repeatedly into my studio, pull out supplies, consider ideas, and make absolutely nothing. Writing comes easily to me but making art does not. I often feel blocked and uncertain. I'm still learning to just open up to the process and move forward even when I don't know where I'm going. This card was the result of forcing myself to stay in the chair at my studio table and push myself a bit. It incorporates bits and pieces from previous projects.

Beautiful card! I love the textures of it, and how the colors create such soft movement. Doesn't it feel wonderful to go with the flow? It happens so infrequently to me, and I, too, wonder why it is so hard to let go of control and self-imposed limits and just create.

Yes, it's the texture that makes this one. Really lovely, organic piece. It IS difficult to just let art happen. When I get past the blockage I feel an almost physical release. It's a bit of a high.

I love it. It's very real and organic and androgynous. It would make beautiful stationery.

Would it help to wander outside the walls of Verona? Do you read newspapers?

Thank you all for the thoughtful feedback.

Lilian, I often find words inspiring my art. Song lyrics and poems are favorite sources of creative energy.

Your cards are beautiful art! I still have the one you sent me, in a little frame. I plan to put it in my new bathroom. ;)

I really like the colours - very soft, very warm. There's something almost...maternal about them.

I like the edges and the overlay effect.

Shirley
Poetry,
Do you like William Blake, Walt Whitman, Baudelaire?

Different poets capture my imagination at different times. Emily Dickinson was once my favorite. I like Blake and Whitman. I'm not sure I've read Baudelaire. If you click on the Poetry archive under "Past and Present" (to the right), you'll read some of my current favorites.
