Magical mushrooms

I guess you could call me a fungi fan. I love to go walking in the woods the day after it rains and check out the mushrooms, which magically spring up overnight. Fall seems to be the best time for mushroom spotting. On Monday I had my camera with me when I encountered some colorful specimens. Check out the photos in my photo album to the right.

They look like something out of a fairy tale! I especially love the last one.

I'm sure they're poisonous, but they look so good... can't you imagine a huge beautiful plate of them on your Thanksgiving table. Too bad they would probably cause all your guests to halucinate and dance around naked.

Count my family as fungi fans, too. Like your shots. There is something magical about mushrooms and other fungi, how they seemingly suddenly appear, and how amazing they are if you give them some up close and personal time. Are you familiar with the chicken mushroom? That appears in our yard twice a year (fall and spring) and we have tons of pictures of them and other unusual fungi. We actually went through all our photo albums and pulled out all our fungi shots when DS was in middle school and studying fungi. I think his teacher was both impressed and concerned about us. LOL
