Friday night again

After rain and clouds and damp, the sun came out just in time to light up the living room and lure Petey the Black Kitten to the window sill. From his perch, he can check out the tadpoles and wonder, "Do they taste like chicken or tuna?"

E and the kiddos are out the door to go bowling with the church youth group. I am not a bowler. Plus driving to Waterloo on the Friday night of a holiday weekend makes me sure I'm gonna die in the car before we get there. If the aggressive drivers don't kill you, the cortisol will trigger a heart attack and finish you off. Go ahead, tell me I'm a baby. Won't. Go. To. Waterloo.

I'm home with the Gin Blossoms' New Miserable Experience and roots that have a date with L'Oreal Preference tonight. I ate jalapeno pretzels for lunch and Doritos for dinner. Y'all , when I wake up tomorrow morning retaining 10 pounds of water and lookin like a slit-eyed pig, don't lecture me about the salt, cause you know it's Friday and the Nutrition Nazis have the day off.

Plus Saturday morning is all about quality time in my bathrobe and my new PJs, which are ALL THAT. The outrageous price tag was worth it just because, my gosh, I feel so CUTE in these PJs. You know, when you're 45, you don't get to use the word cute to describe yourself very often. Carpe diem! Seize the pretty pastel moment!

I have two Netflix flicks waitin on top of the fridge: An Inconvenient Truth and Reality Bites. You know, those film titles could be interchangeable; they're both sayin the same thing even if the movies have very different messages. Maybe I should go for a trifecta and see if there's a movie called "Life's a Bitch and Then You Die."

But you know, life is good, and I'm thinkin when the haircolor is done, maybe I'll get out that pink nail polish and seize another pastel moment.

Have a good weekend!

Happy Friday! It's still morning here, but I'm glad to hear that nutrition is optional, because I just had cheetos for breakfast.

Ah, Reality Bites...that movie still makes me cry.

God, I'm a sap.

You can eat whatever you want for breakfast when you're an adult. At least that's the excuse I tell my son when I opt for chocolate brownies and make him eat fruit

Your southen US roots are showing as well...Y'all :)

I always said that if I had daughters, would scorn the pastel pink clothing and stick only to Hannah Anderson togs. Of course...I had boys and Oshkosh was just fine..B'Gosh!

I just had my roots done today to..nothing feels better! Our food of choice this evening..cheesy english muffins (shredded cheddar, olives, green onions, and...oh ya..MAYO) Stuck under the broiler till bubbly. It's what my husbands family used to eat on Fridays during lent. Supposed to be a sacrifice.. yeah, right...Can't you spell cheesy good decadence!

And fresh strawberry icecream jello pie for dessert!
I fell repentant already! Enjoy your night!

Wordgirl,

I never got to wear pastels as a child. Somewhere along the line my mother decided that redheads should not wear pink, purple, yellow, red, or light blue. I grew up dressed in forest green and navy.

My favorite color is deep red, and I like earthtones--khaki, brown, olive green, pumpkin, charcoal, black. In spring and summer I enjoy dabbling in shell pink and occasionally will dare to wear lavender, which can be dramatic with my coloring.

I loved, loved, loved Osh Kosh. And my daughter is a very fair blue eyed-blond--not dressing her in pastels would have been a crime!

Hey V-grrl. We met at Cindy's last week. Your slit-eyed pig comment was too funny! Also, how are you getting Netflix in Belgium? Are you plugged into some sweet movie deal we've been missing out on?!!

PS -- I hear you on the injunction against pink for redheads -- My mother outlawed pink for her 4 (!) redheaded girls, but we took it back in our twenties, and as I type this, I'm wearing a bright pink "Bad Apple" t-shirt -- take that, mum!

Amy,

You're such a Bad Apple! I bet you run with scissors AND color outside the lines.

hellsbells--i'm so behind in my blogreading after having jared's birthday here at the dept. and a few other obligations. so sorry.

am catching up as fastasican.

i am mystified: always thought pink was REQUIRED for redheads. shows how much i know. thought the only colors verboten were orange and red.

I loved An Inconvenient Truth, but I couldn't help thinking that if Al Gore had been that passionate about becoming President, things might be different.
I'm so impressed with what he's doing now though. Hopefully he'll find his way to a cabinet position that will allow him to continue in the next administration.

Hi - I'm a friend of Di's and was just perusing your blog, when I saw a word that was once so dear to me...NETFLIX! Are you renting from Netflix in Belgium? How? Please tell! I'm a movie addict, also nestled within Belgium's tiny land mass.
