Life of V: The Movie

There’s a Web site, www.myheritage.com , where folks can upload a photo of themselves and computer analysis determines what celebrities they most resemble. As Debbie and Wordgirl have discovered, the results are often comical. I haven’t tried playing that game, but it got me thinking: If a movie was made about my life, who would I want to play my role?

To me this is less about physical resemblance and more about the intangible qualities actors bring to their roles.

I think Kate Winslet and Laura Linney could capture my life the way it is now. I’m thinking of Kate’s performance in Finding Neverland and Titanic, and Laura Linney’s in Love Actually and You Can Count on Me. I also relate to Virginia Madsen’s acting as the love interest in Sideways. That scene where she describes what she thinks about when she samples fine wine is so rich in words, imagery, and passion. Love it.

Now, if the movie was set in my teens and twenties, Winona Ryder would be a good choice. There’s something about her skinny-chick vulnerability and intensity that conjures that time in my life for me.

What about you? If a movie was made about your life, who would you want to see cast?

And for those of you who know me, what do you think of my choices?

Winona is perfect for your early years! Her characters often march to the beats of their own drums, which is certainly something you were not afraid to do. As for now... hmmm, how about Joan Cuzak? I love Joan and think she could be a marvelous V-Grrrl!

I think Reese Witherspoon would make a perfect Shirl Grrrl!

I've seen so few of her movies, that I wouldn't know... I think I would pick Holly Hunter for myself!

I would pick a young Faye Dunaway to be me. I hope I look like her when I get older, too!

i have always thought that Claire Danes would play a good Ceece. She's cute, but just not cute enough that she's really noticed by everyone, and she's always playing the girl who's friends with everyone, and always looking for what she thinks she's missing.

Holly Hunter's too short to play me, but she's got an attitude that I like. If my life was a comedy, I'd get Joan Cusack. For everything else, Francis McDormand.

I did this yesterday as well (I caved to the pressure). I came up with Anna Nichole Smith and Liza Minelli....I like your approach better. I don't know who I would be if I had to pick who resembles where I am with my life now, but the young me would have been Demi Moore. I looked like her at the time and I was sassy.

One of my favorite Joan Cusak roles was in Men Don't Leave. She plays a professional woman in her 20s who initiates a serious romantic relationship with a 16 year old in her apartment building who has lost his dad It's a really complex role because her character is flaky and the idea of the relationship is disturbing and yet she manages to make her character sympathetic. Jessica Lange plays the mother of the boy.

I don't care if it's shallow; I want to be played by someone hot. Maybe Eva Longoria.

What a fun link! My results came up with Penelope Cruz; I don't think she looks like me but I agree with Arabella... I'm all for having someone hot portray me too!
