Where I live

I always plan to take photos of everyday sights in my corner of the world but I seldom get it done. Either I'm in too big a hurry when I leave the house or the weather or the light is uncooperative. I finally told myself to Just Do It and the results are in my Photo Album (link in the navigation bar to your right).

The shot of my front door in a big brick facade would make it seem the house was dark and dreary but it actually has walls on the back side that are floor to ceiling windows. Some day I'll photograph the interior!

The other shots are of my cobblestone driveway and brick sidewalk, the towering flower arrangement at the bus stop, and the dirt lane where I frequently go walking.

Happy Sunday Afternoon!

V - I know you miss Va., but I think when you return, you are REALLY going to miss Belgium. Your front door is very inviting. Keep sharing the photos - I'd love to see more.

I'm loving the pictures. Thank you for sharing. The front of your home... so elegant! And the lane... heavenly. I didn't know you were returning home. I thought you were making your home here permanently.

Very pretty! I look forward to seeing more! Love the dirt lane, it reminds me of dirt roads in Rockbridge.

Wow, these photos are absolutely beautiful! I love your front door! Looking at your photos all kinds of ideas came to mind. I think it would be cool to have a family portrait done in front of your door or perhaps in those woods. I don't know how the tree foliage changes here during the fall compared to the US East Coast but I think it would look very artsy if you had leaves sprawled on your cobblestone driveway and had your kids lay down and then take a photo from above. It may sound crazy but the results I think would be creative. Thanks for sharing!

Javacurls,

Awesome idea for a fall photo on the cobblestones. Last fall here we had beautiful weather but rusty-colored foliage. The leaves stayed on the trees FOREVER. But we had blue skies and moderate temps--perfect!

The "front door" is hard to photograph because it's actually on the side of the house with little clearance to work with. I can't step back from it as much as I'd like...

In the U.S. I had a natural-wood fenced yard with a sweet round-topped garden gate leading into it. I decorated the gate for every season, and every year I took the kids' pictures standing in front of it on their birthdays.
