Shameless lines

I suppose it's fitting that this ferociously pink shameless lion is the symbol for an award given for my shameless lines. Thanks to Wendy for nominating me for my powerful words. The award is given by the Shameless Lions Writing Circle.

Now protocol demands I share three qualities of good writing. I think good writing is:

  • Clear--in its focus, intent, and execution
  • Memorable--the words or their effects linger long after you leave the page
  • Evocative--vividly bringing to life universal experiences and emotions

And now in the spirit of  the Shameless Lions, here are a few of my favorite writers in the blogosphere:

Her Bad Mother

Bub and Pie

Jew Eat Yet?

German Diary

Half of the Sky

Congratulations. I never read your blog much, but the things I read always intriged me, so I believe you deserve it.

PS: Noticed that I'm dropping by ever more frequent. :)

I have noticed your visits Manic and I'm always glad to see you, my fellow mocker of certain Kiwi Queens in Antwerp.

Hey thanks! I think this must be the most brightly coloured award I've been given!

Very cool! You so deserve it as your words ARE powerful. I will like seeing that pink lion saved on your site with your other awards :-) .

Memorable, focused and vivid sure describes all of your work Veronica: a truly merited award.

I wonder though, who came up with the color scheme: it's not really bright fuschia nor real pink - it's red with a tinge of purple I cannot really define ;-)

Shall we call it atomic pink, Peter? It's rather hard on the eyes and the environment. ;-)

Back in the 90s, I came up with a phrase to describe things that were aggressively ugly:

I called them "eye bangers."
