Tea drinking is supposed to be elegant...

have a cup of tea.jpg

You can gauge the weather in Belgium and my personal thermostat by the number of teabags that accumulate on the kitchen counter. Yesterday was a raw, damp, February day that kept the kettle humming.  This was the state of the kitchen counter at 2 p.m. before I cleared it and started over!

Tea drinking is so much more civilized in the movies.

Can I come share a pot? You shouldn't have to drink alone on a cold, dreary day! Today is supposed to end up warm and sunny but it's nippy and very foggy right now, so I enjoyed my tea this morning. And besides, the movies only show you the parlor with the tea served on a tray, they don't show you the kitchen where everything was prepared - I'm sure their counters weren't always spotless either!

Come on over and I'll brew it in a proper teapot!

E is forever dismayed by the sight of my teabag pyramids. He doesn't see their creation as an endearing quirk or counter performance art. Sad, isn't it?

Thank you for posting this picture. Everytime I make tea I always make such a mess. I thought it was just ME.

Whoah, that's a lot of tea bags, even for my standards. I am a VERY messy person, but I simply cannot abide used tea bags on the counter - must throw them away immediately, even if the rest of the house looks like a hurrican hit it.

It's all in the pinky...as long as you have that extended for each sip, you're totally freakin' elegant.

hahaha, looks like home! :-) But I have tea days and then instant cappuccino days. Do you squish the tea bags after you brew them, or just let them drip dry? I squish mine, and some people think that's so disgusting.

Way to show Neil what mundane is all about. He's not even in your league :)

Now that's funny! Maybe that's why I'm a coffee drinker! But I am so totally sure that if I did drink tea my counter would look just like that... in fact, John will make tea and never throws the bag away but I don't think we've every had the pryamid!

That's what happens every time I drink tea, which is not very often since I hate cleaning up the mess. It's very labor intensive, tea drinking.

Aw, let the tea bags pile up. If it's only one cuppa at a time for one person, are you really gonna get out the porcelain teapot?

When I lived in Madrid, my English flatmates had me well-trained to drink tea. It wasn't until I actually went to the U.K. on visits, however, that I really appreciated the cup of tea. That nasty damp cold that sinks into your bones... my God, that really calls for some piping hot tea. With milk. And... oh heck, throw in some scones. Or those sweet little cucumber sandwiches. Whatever :-)))

Buy yourself a pretty little plate to hold the used tea bags, and voila! Instant class!

I have a lovely collection of tea bag caddies. There's a very pretty one at the bottom of the pyramid!

Guess I need to use more than one, huh?
February 28, 2007 | Unregistered CommenterV-Grrrl
Oh, I hadn't noticed the caddie. Yep, your situation is hopeless.

That looks like a damn good day right there, one can never have too much tea or coffee for that matter.
