Tell me what you want to know...

Things seem slow in the blogosphere these days, as if lots of people are worn out by summer and taking a siesta. To shake us out of our malaise, I thought I'd invite y'all to provide questions for me to answer in a blog post, much as Teebs did earlier this week when she asked what I would miss most about Belgium. This way I get some inspiration, and hopefully you get a post on a topic that interests you.

Leave your questions or topics in the comment box and I'll use them to generate one or more posts beginning Sunday.

Virtually yours,

V-Grrrl

Hi V-Grrrl -- welcome back to this side of the pond! I enjoyed your posts from home; sounds like you had a great visit. My questions:
1) What, if anything, would you do differently regarding your time in Belgium if you were to do it all over again? For example, if you could turn back time, would you have learned the language? Lived in a different place?
2) Will you keep blogging after your return to the US next year? (By the way, your fans say, "Please do...")

Like AP mentioned, you had (and soon will have) a busy professional life back in the US (I read some of your publications). Will there still be time to blog the way we all have gotten used to?

Trust me: expat blogs tend to be much more exciting than those from people with busy 9-5 jobs :-)

and now for something completely different...

if you were a super-hero, who would you be? and why?

also, if you could have one conversation with anyone in the world, dead or alive, who would it be, and what would you talk about?

I have only been reading our blog for a short time, but I enjoy it! I also live in Northern Virginia (Haymarket), so I loved the stories from your trip home! Here are my questions:
1. Do you have pictures of the types of paper crafts that you love to make, and what are your plans for the papers you bought in VA?
2. You mentioned you will work again in VA, so my question is what do you do for your job and how will going back to work affect your family?

Thanks!

(1.) Regarding your whole ex-pat experience, have your children learned to speak the language since being in Belgium? It is always so much easier for kids, although I can also understand that if they are going to one of the international schools that abound in European cities, where English is the first language, it may not have been a necessity for them.

(2.) Exactly what sort of work will you pursue, or would you like to pursue, when you return to the U.S.?

Okay, here's something I've been thinking a lot about lately. So, if your son told you he was gay, how do you expect you would react (or if E-Grrl told you she was lesbian)? What do you feel about gays and lesbians in general? Have you always felt that way? Do you ahev any personal relationships with gay or lesbian people?

I may not be around to read for a few weeks, but I'll be looking forward to your answers upon our return from the Cxech Republic.

Hey Tera...
Never, I mean never ask a stupid question about children, particularly children I know, about their personal lives.

You are out of line.

Hey Michael,

Thanks for your concern, but I know Tera and she's not trying to be provocative in a bad way, just posing a "what if" scenario for me as a parent. : )

What souviner did you purchase or plan to purchase says "Belgium?"

What is your favorite Belgian food? Will you try to make it when you return to the US?

Since this move was to connect with your husband's heritage, did he accomplish his objective?

Will you adopt any Belgian customs or incorporate any Belgian traditions into your family life when you return?

I'd love for you to write a challenge to me (and any other soon-to-be expat in Belgium)...something that only someone on the other side of this experience would be able to do. I leave the details and interpretation up to you...but I'm leaving for greater Brussels in a few months and would welcome your inspiration. Did you ever know how much your writings would touch the lives of others? You ARE a teacher!

You are stranded on a desert island with only one book, one album and one television show to watch until rescue comes. What book, album and show would you want to have at your disposal?
