Just wondering...
Does anyone else think Uma Thurman looks like a praying mantis?
Or that in certain photos Brooke Shields looks like a man dressed as a woman?
Do you ever wonder why there are blush sticks that say on the label that they can be used for "cheeks, lips, eyes?" Who wants to put any shade of pink or red on their EYES? That's just icky, people. You'd look like a white rabbit--or like you have the flu, an eye infection, or stayed up all night crying. With pink eyes you become the person no one wants to get in an elevator with. Strangers hand you a kleenex. Co-workers hope you won't use their phone. If you're lucky, someone will make you chicken soup.
What's your favorite fragrance?
Since Lynn and I's visit to the perfume factory in Namur, I've been obsessed with teasing out the various scents that make up the complex oriental fragrance we both purchased. Orange blossoms? Musk? Amber? White lily? The perfume guy told us this unisex formula called Passion includes many elements and has notes of chocolate and coffee in it. No wonder I love it. It's so rich and mysterious and the scent lasts forever on the skin, and while the coffee scent escapes me, I CAN smell the chocolate. Thankfully, I haven't done anything freaky like lick my wrists when I'm wearing Passion, but I do sniff them a lot, which I suppose looks just as freaky.
Other fragrances I like: Red by Giorgio, Romance by Ralph Lauren, So Magic by Lancome, Noa Fleur by Cacharel, Tommy Girl Summer Cologne 2005, Bobbi Brown's Beach, Clinique Happy and assorted cheap but fabulous Avon colognes: Skin to Skin, Individual Blue, Rare Ruby.
Are you bored yet? Yeah, me too. Let's wrap this up--but don't forget to tell me your favorite fragrance--it doesn't have to be one you wear, just one you love to encounter.

V, you'll have to share the location of this fabulous perfume shop with me. I love finding new & unusal scents and with my birthday just around the corner I may need to treat myself once I'm in Belgium. :)
I've always had a thing for mens Obsession. I smell it and I'm back in 1989 flirting innocently with my best friends older brother.
Sigh...
I am a patchouli girl. I like spicy/earthy scents (go figure). This winter, however, I found the Jasmine Vanilla scent from Bath and Body Works. It's in their aromatherapy line, in the "sensuality" category. -snort- SO not me. But for some reason I like that one. I read later that it has "jasmine and vanilla, blended with a hint of sandalwood and patchouli". Bingo! Their orange ginger is also a favorite of mine.
But there is NOTHING to compare to Bath and Body Works Vanilla Bean Noel. And confound it, I can only get it at Christmas. I usually get one bottle for myself (although people have kindly gotten the hint and saved me the $ the last couple years!) and dole it out over the year. I swear the lotion smells like an incredibly rich vanilla custard, with an almost caramel smell to it. I have sometimes stopped myself just shy of licking my hand... It also mellows nicely on my skin, which is my main issue with most scents... they end up smelling way too perfumey, even if they smell good at first (there is an official term for that, but I do not remember it).
Clinique Elixir for fall and winter.
I usually get sneezy at perfume bars so I can't experiment by trying on new perfumes. Besides, husband has to have a fixed perfume name stamped on his forehead otherwise he'll get me something icky and then I'll have to wear it...
anyway, i love the sent of "maybe, baby" by benefit cosmetics. its so girly and if i ever break out my little free sample of the perfume or the lotion my boyfriend loves it too. and i have a bottle of ralph lauren's "blue" but i prefer the former these days. its light and makes me think of flowy dresses, batting eyelashes and naughty underwear unerneath ;)
My favourite fragrance is Obsession by Calvin Klien.
My favorite scent? Citrus - especially lime. Makes me think of vacation. I used to wear Calyx Prescriptives when I was in high school and I still think it's a refreshing scent, but the thought of wearing perfume now makes me gag a little. Even the smell of my Aveda hair wax overwhelms me when I put it on.
During high school I had a crush on a very charismatic guy who used to wear Halston Z-14. I would sniff it at the local Alco whenever I was there, just to get a fix. Stuff still makes me a little weak in the knees. Was it coincidence that Hubby was wearing that a lot when we first met? Hmmmm...
Ah, the power of fragrance.
I discovered it while living in Turkey and it's 'mine' now.
As for fragrances, coinkidinkily, Uma's a Lancome Miracle girl, isn't she?
I love all things Lancome, btw.
I'm still trying to figure out why people are so crazed by Angelina Jolie. I think she looks a little abnormal.
Yes, Brooke has got the manly thing going on ... also, Amanda Peet I think ... remember her from Something's Gotta Give with Jack and Diane? She played Diane's daughter, the one who brought Jack home as her date.
My fragrance is Je Reviens by Worth. I don't wear it very often (and not a lot either) because I am not a big fragrance girl (I am sensitive to perfumes). I even wondered if they were still making it and had no idea what type of fragrance it was ... here's what I found out and I am very happy to say it is still being made. Maybe time to get a new bottle (thanks V!)
Launched by the design house of Worth in 1932, Je Reviens by Worth is classified as a luxurious fragrance.
This feminine scent possesses a blend of a classic scent of soft floral and greens. It is recommended for romantic wear.
